Leticia Carvalho has been revealed as the Swiss spokesperson for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.
SRF has revealed that 22-year-old Leticia Carvalho will be revealing the results of the Swiss jury voting during the final of this years Eurovision Song Contest. The Swiss-Portuguese singer is a model and a singer, having participated in The Voice in both France and Portugal.
Earlier this year she performed a cover of “Amar Pelos Dois” during the Swiss national final, receiving praise from viewers across the world for her performance. Reacting to the new Leticia Carvalho added;
On the one hand it is a great honor, on the other hand my knees are shaking
Zibbz were selected to represent Switzerland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest after they won the Swiss national final show, a staggering 88 points ahead of second place. At the contest, they will be singing their song “Stones”. Get to know more about the duo here.
According to Zibbz, their song has a clear message:
Bullying stops people from dreaming. It happens everywhere and, of course, putting yourself down is also a form of bullying.
Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 a contest that they won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”, it wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. At the contest in Dublin, it was Celine Dion with “Ne partez pas sans moi” who beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. In recent years Switzerland has finished last five times since 2004. In the past three years, Switzerland has failed to reach the final.
