Federico Russo and Serena Rossi have been announced as the Italian commentary team for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal.
Federico Russo is set to return to the Eurovision commentary booth, joined by Serena Rossi for the first time. For the fourth year running Federico Russo returns to the commentary booth as one of the commentators for the Italian coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest. He will be joined by actress Serena Rossi, she has stared in both film and television and is most well known internationally for her role in Inspector Montalbano.
Rai has also confirmed that Rai Radio 2 will once again be broadcasting the final of the Eurovision Song Contest on its airwaves. Carolina Di Domenico and Ema Stokholma will be guiding listeners through the show from Lisbon. According to Eurofestival News it is unlikely that Rai Radio 2 will be providing coverage of the semi-finals as the station also broadcasts The Voice, which will be taking place at the same time.

Italy debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has participated a total of 42 times to date. Italy returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 having last participated in the contest in 1997, the country has withdrawn from the contest on a number of occasions in the past. Italy has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1964 and the latest being in 1990. Italy’s hosting of the contest in 1991 has been remembered as one of the most chaotic contests to date. Since their return in 2011 Italy has finished in the top 10 on five occasions.
