Tonight the final of Lithuania’s Eurovision selection show Eurovizijos dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka 2018 will take place in Kaunas.
Eurovizijos 2018 is the last national final of the Eurovision 2018 season, and the running order of the show has been revealed ahead of tonight’s show. Six artists will go head to head for the chance to represent their country at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The order is as follows:
- Monika Marija – The Truth
- Kotryna Juodzevičiūtė – That Girl
- The Roop – Yes, I Do
- Paula – 1 2 3
- Jurgis Brūzga – 4love
- Ieva Zasimauskaitė – When We’re Old
The winner tonight will be decided by 50% public televote and 50% jury voting. There will be no super-final as seen in other nations selections. In the event of a tie break the song that receives the highest points from the jury will be declared the winner.
Two singers who will also be competing in this years contest in Lisbon will be performing as interval acts tonight. Saara Aalto from Finland will be performing “Monsters”, while Iceland’s Ari Olafsson will sing “Our Choice”. Iceland was the first country in the world to recognise Lithuania’s Independence from the Soviet Union on 11 January 1991. Lithuania is currently celebrating 100 years as an independent country.
Also performing in the final are past Lithuanian Eurovision participants Fusedmarc (2017) and Sasha Song (2009). Alongside these singers are Bjelle, Thundertale, Original Copy, Monique.
Lithuania debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, however on their debut they finished in last place with nul points. Lithuania didn’t return to the contest until 1999 when Aiste finished 20th with the song “Strazdas”. Lithuania’s best result came in 2006 when LT United performed “We Are The Winners”, they finished 6th in the final with a total of 162 points. Lithuania’s only other top.10 finish came in 2016 when Donny Montell performed “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night” in Stockholm, he received 12 points from the public in Ireland, Norway & United Kingdom.
