It has been announced that Soraya Arnelas, who represented Spain in 2009, will present the Eurovision Spain Pre-Party in the Sala La Riviera Madrid on April 21.
Soraya will present the show and also present it. Around 20 competing artists at this year’s Eurovision will take part. Fellow Operación Triunfo alumni and this year’s Spanish representatives, will also be hosts for the various international delegations attending. Among the current comfirmed artists are:
- Mikolas Josef (Czech Republic)
- Sennek (Belgium)
- Madame Monsieur (France)
- SuRie (United Kingdom)
- Eugent Bushpepa (Albania)
- Zibbz (Switzerland)
The day beforehand, the Welcome ESParty will be held in Joy Eslava, in which all of the participants will be welcomed to Madrid at a red carpet event. The presenters for this event will be Lucía Pérez, who represented Spain in 2011 and Víctor Escudero.
The third and final wave of tickets are currently on sale on espreparty.com, at the Corte Inglés travel agencies and at post offices nationwide. Tickets cost €18 (Friday), €30 (Saturday General) and €45 (General Pack) and are non-refundable. Tickets cannot be sold to anyone under the age of 18, in compliance with laws in the Community of Madrid.
The ESPre-Party was held for the first time last year and was deemed a huge success. It was granted “Official Related Event” status by the EBU, giving it the same status as the Eurovision preview concerts held in Amsterdam, London, Riga, Moscow and Tel Aviv. This made the event the first official Eurovision Song Contest related event to be held in Spain since the contest was hosted in Madrid in 1969.
12 countries originally signed up for the event but that number later grew to 21. Among them were the four of the top five placed artists at this year’s contest: Kristian Kostov (Bulgaria), Sunstroke Project (Moldova), Blanche (Belgium) and Robin Bengtsson (Sweden). Ruth Lorenzo (Spain 2014) was the presenter for the evening. Special guests included Suzy (Portugal 2014), Mirela (Spanish NF 2007, 2009 and 2017) and Brequette (Spanish NF 2014). The show took place in the Sala La Riviera and the Joy Eslava. 1,500 people attended the show. The event also made an impact on social media. 45,000 people watched the official live stream on Facebook, it made two trending topics on Twitter and around 100 journalists covered the event.
