Waylon has travelled to Castelo de São Jorge, Portugal to film his postcard for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.
The Netherland’s Eurovision 2018 participant, Waylon, is the latest singer to travel to Portugal to film their postcard. The Dutch postcard features the singer exploring Castelo de São Jorge (the Castle of St. George), and also baking pastéis de nata, a Portuguese delicacy.
The postcards are short clips that are shown to the audience while the artist gets ready on stage. Waylon is now the ninth Eurovision artist to film their postcard, as the following have also filmed theirs:
Waylon will represent The Netherlands at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal. He was internally selected by Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, and he will sing “Outlaw In ‘Em”.
The Netherlands debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has gone on to compete in all bar four contests. To date the Netherlands has won the contest on four occasions the latest being in 1975. The Netherlands struggled in the contest from 2000 onwards, between 2004 and 2013 the country only qualified twice for the final. The countries best result since 1975 occurred in 2014 when The Common Linnets finished 2nd in Copenhagen with a total of 238 points, 52 points behind Austria.
