The next artist featured in our “Who Is” series for the Eurovision 2018 season is Alekseev from Belarus.
In February, it was decided that Alekseev would represent Belarus at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest after he won the Belarusian national final. Let’s get to know a bit more about him.
Nikita Vladimirovich Alekseev was born on 18th May 1993 in Kiev, Ukraine. The singer rose to fame after he took part in The Voice of Ukraine in 2014, where he finished as a semi-finalist. Afterwards, with the help of Ani Lorak, he shot the music video for his debut single “Everything is in Time”, and later appeared on the show Voice Of The Country: Reload, where he covered Iryna Bilyk’s “I’m Drowning”.
Over the course of his career, he released many singles such as “Dreams of Shards” and “Feeling Soul”, and went on to win numerous awards; from ZD Awards’ “Breakthrough Artist of The Year” in 2017, and “Most Popular Radio Artist”. Outside of music, he graduated from university with a degree in Marketing.
Alekseev will represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal this May. He was selected after winning the Belarusian national final Eurofest with his song “Forever”.
Belarus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and has made it to the final on four occasions. For the past two years, Belarus has failed to make it through to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Their most recent entrant, IVAN, finished in 12th place in his semi-final and was 21 points away from qualification. Belarus’ best result in the contest came in 2007 when Dmitry Koldun finished 6th in the final with a total of 145 points. In total Belarus has qualified for the Eurovision final five times in fourteen attempts.
