MRT, the Macedonian national broadcaster has revealed that Eye Cue will represent Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon with the song “Lost and Found”. The song was written and composed by band member Bojan Trajkovski and produced by Darko Dimitrov.
After putting out a public call for songs, MRT received 382 entries overall. An 8 member committee made up of MRT members reduced the pool of songs to twelve after 3 rounds of voting. In addition to the committee, ten other professionals in the Macedonian and international music scenes were also invited to evaluate the songs. However, due to possible conflict of interest, these people were not members of the committee. In the final round of voting, each jury member ranked the songs using the Eurovision points system. Eye Cue received the highest amount of points. The selection committee explained their choice by saying:
“The Commission is unanimous in the view that: the selected composition has a contemporary sound, impressive refrain and text, excellent and original vocal abilities of the performer, which certainly offers the opportunity for a quality Eurovision package and a worthy presentation of MRT and Macedonia at this prestigious musical event organized by EBU. ”
Eye Cue is made up of vocalists, Bojan Trajkovski and Marija Ivanovska and drummer Ivo Mitkovski. The band has been together since 2007 and has had a number of hits across the Balkans, most notably their 2010 song “Not This Time”. MRT has not yet revealed when “Lost and Found” will be presented to the public.
Last year, Jana Burceska was also internally selected to represent her country in Kyiv. She finished in 15th place in the second semi-final, thus failing to qualify for the Grand Final with her song Dance Alone.
FYR Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest

The country debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998, however, two years earlier they attempted to participate but was knocked out in the pre-qualifying round. In 2016 they were represented by Kaliopi for a second time with the song “Dona”, she missed out on the final finishing in 11th in her semi-final.
