Czech artist Mikolas Josef has travelled to Portugal to film his postcard.
Mikolas Josef, the singer who will represent the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest this year, has travelled from Ukraine to Portugal to film his Eurovision postcard. After performing his Eurovision song “Lie to Me” at the first Vidbir Semi-Final, Mikolas flew to Portugal and later revealed some information regarding his postcard on his Instagram account.
Mikolas teased that his postcard will involve travelling around some traditional Portuguese villages and taking care of dogs. In the past week, Austria’s Cesár Sampson and Belgium’s Sennek have also made their way over to the host country to shoot their postcards. These short clips will be shown on screen while the artists are preparing on stage.
The Czech Republic is hoping that 2018 will see their fortunes reversed. After finally qualifying for the final for the first time ever in 2016, last year Martina Bárta could only manage 13th Place in the semi-final with her entry ‘My Turn’. This meant that once more, Czech Republic were not present in the final in Kyiv.

The Czech Republic debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with the band Kabát and the song “Malá dáma”, they finished last in the semi-final scoring just 1 point from Estonia. The country went on to participate for a further two years before withdrawing from the contest after the 2009 edition in Moscow where Gipsy.cz scored nul points. In 2016 the Czech Republic qualified for their first final, Gabriela Guncikova finished 25th in the final with the song “I Stand”.
