SVT has confirmed that Kamferdrops will not be disqualified from tonight’s first semi final of Meldoifestivalen in Karlstad.
Kamferdrops will be able to compete in Melodifestivalen with the song “Solen lever kvar”. Earlier today Aftonbladet reported that the song that Kamferdrops will perform tonight has been available as a demo online for over eight years. After discussions throughout the day a decision has been made to allow the singers to still take part.
Christer Bjorkman stated that;
After talking to stakeholders, song authors and demo vocalist Jonny Fagerman, we have found that there is no intention of the author to spread the work publicly.
Questions had been raised as to whether Kamferdrops had breached copyright of the song and the rules of Melodifestivalen by competing with “Solen lever kvar”. Jonny Fagerman who produced the demo version of the song has stated he has no intention to make the demo commercially available.
