Zoë Straub has written twenty out of the twenty-two songs competing in 1in360, the San Marinese selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Zoë Straub who represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, has writing credits on twenty of the twenty two songs competing in 1in360. While the rest of the creative team at 1in360 have also all contributed to around half of the songs competing in the selection process.
The eleven that will take part in 1in360, the selection show that will select San Marino’s next Eurovision participant are:
- Emma Sandström (Winner of the fan club vote) (Finland)
- Giovanni Montalbano (Winner of the web voting) (Italy)
- Irol (Wildcard San Marino artist)
- Sara de Blue (Austria)
- Franklin Calleja (Malta)
- Jessika Muscat (Malta)
- Judah Gavra (Israel)
- Tinashe Makura (Zimbabwe)
- Camilla North (Norway)
- Sebastian Schmidt (Germany)
- Jenifer Besky (Germany)
The first two episodes will be pre-recorded and broadcast on the 9th and 16th of February 2018. All 11 contestants will be present in both episodes, performing a potential entry in each show. These performances will be done in acoustic form.
At the end of the second episode it will be down to the judges to decide which of every artists’ 2 songs are the best and will progress to the final.
The final will then take place 2 weeks later on Saturday 3rd of March. Unlike the first two programmes, the final will be live and will be held in Bratislava in Slovakia. At this stage each of the last 11 entries will be fully produced, finished versions of the songs will be made public no later than 23rd February 2018.
San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest
Over 9 years of participation San Marino have only once qualified for the Eurovision final when Valentina Monetta represented the country with “Maybe (Forse)” in Copenhagen. She finished in 24th place with 14 points, San Marino’s best result to date. This year Valentina represented her country for the 4th time, this time joined on stage by American singer Jimmie Wilson. The pair’s entry “Spirit of the Night” finished in last place in its semi-final in Kyiv, scoring just 1 point.
