The Head of Delegation of Cyprus has confirmed that Hovig will reveal the results of the Cypriot jury at Eurovision 2018.
Hovig is the second spokesperson to be announced for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. With his song “Gravity”, written and composed by Thomas G:son, he bagged a 21st place finish in the Grand Final. Continuing a three year run of qualifications for a Eurovision Song Contest final since returning to the contest in 2015.
2017 was not the first time Hovig attempted to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2010, he took part in the national final in which he placed 3rd with “Goodbye”. 5 years later he returned once again to the national final where he placed 4th with “Stone in a River”.

Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest
Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result in the contest came in the form of three fifth place finishes. Their highest points finish came in 2004 when Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties, but returned again in 2015 where they were represented by John Karagiannis.
