Every year the Eurovision bubble descends and the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest is transformed for two weeks to accommodate artists, delegations, press and fans. Lisbon 2018 will be no exception as host broadcaster RTP have now revealed the location of the all-important Euroclub, Eurovillage and Opening Ceremony.
The Euroclub will be hosted in one of Lisbon’s most popular nightclubs, Lust in Rio located in the Cais do Sodré waterfront district. The venue will be open on 4 May and can be accessed by accredited fans, press, staff and delegations.
Eurovision fans will have an estimated 30 minute journey from Euroclub to the Altice Arena where the shows will be held but Eurovision Village will be right next to Euroclub at Praça do Comércio (also known as Terreiro do Paço). Eurovision Village’s location was already revealed earlier this month.
Praça do Comércio is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Lisbon and Eurovision Village will be accessible from 4 May until 12 May, the day of the Grand Final. It will feature a live broadcast of each of the shows on big screens for those who don’t have tickets for the arena. The village will also feature stands of the various sponsors of the contest with merchandise and a stage which will host live performances from the Eurovision 2018 artists and local Portuguese talent every day.
6 May will mark the official opening of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The blue carpet event will take place at the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) leading to the nearby Museum of Electricity for the ceremony. MAAT is an impressive new Lisbon landmark which recently opened its doors and will form an impressive backdrop for the artists and delegations walking the carpet.
The blue carpet and the location of all three venues on the banks of the Tagus River cohere with the official slogan of Lisbon 2018: All Aboard!
