With Junior Eurovision 2017 taking place tomorrow in Tbilisi, RTP has already been looking ahead to next years contest in Minsk, confirming their participation in Belarus.
Portugal has confirmed that they will be participating in Junior Eurovision 2018, with RTP already looking at how they could select next years participant. This year RTP opted to invite singers to take part in a one-off selection show featuring covers and the selected song “YouTuber” being performed by each singer.
RTP made it clear that they want to ensure that Eurovision remains at the forefront of people’s minds next year, with the country hosting the Eurovision Song Contest. As a result they do not wish to overlook the Junior Eurovision Song Contest again next year.
Nuno Galopim confirmed that the broadcaster will search across Portugal next year for the best singers to take part in the contest. Looking not only in mainland Portugal but also in the Azores and Madeira.
Sixteen countries will take part in the 15th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year, including returning country Portugal, who haven’t participated since 2007. The contest will take place at the Olympic Palace in Tbilisi, Georgia on Sunday 26th November 2017 at 16:00 – 18:00 CET. This is the first time Georgia has hosted any Eurovision event. Helen Kalandadze and Lizi Pop, who represented Georgia in the 2014 contest with “Happy Day” will host the show. The Virus, who were the Georgian representative in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with “Gabede”, will perform during the interval.

- FYR Macedonia
