Sinéad Carr has won the fourth and final semi-final of Junior Eurovision Éire with her song “Cén Fáth?” and will compete in the final of the competition next week on November 19.
Sinéad Carr and Orla McDermott both advanced to the sing-off round, in which they performed their songs again. was then chosen by the panel to advance to the final. Tonight’s panel consisted of regular judges Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Bláthnaid Tracey, along with guest judge Niamh Kavanagh, who represented Ireland in 1993 and 2010 and was one of the judges on the first edition of Junior Eurovision Éire in 2015. Sinéad received votes from Niamh and Bláthnaid while Fiachna casted his vote for Orla.

Sinéad Carr now joins the winners of the other three semi-finals, Muireann McDonnell, Gwenaelle Noval, Úna Ní Mhistéil and possibly up to two wildcards in the final next week. Although the winner was not supposed to be revealed until next week, Muireann McDonnell was revealed to be this year’s Irish representative, after the official contest album was released on Spotify. She will represent Ireland in this year’s contest in Tbilisi, the captial of Georgia.
Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Ireland debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest at the 2015 contest in Sofia, Bulgaria. The countries participation is organised by the Irish language broadcaster, TG4. At the 2015 contest in Bulgaria, Ireland was represented by Aimee Banks with the song “Réalta na Mara”, she finished 12th in the final. At the 2016 contest in Malta, Ireland was represented by Zena Donelly with the song “Bríce ar Bhríce”. She finished 10th in the final scoring a total of 122 points, including receiving the countries first 12 points in the contest.
