Ana Kodra will represent Albania at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Let’s get to know a bit more about her.
Ten-year-old Ana Kodra was born in 2007 in her home country of Albania. Throughout her singing career, Ana has competed on several occasions including in 2015 where she was a finalist on Tu Si Que Vales (You Are Worth It), an Italian competition. A year later she also competed in Gjeniu I Vogel (Little Genius), and in 2017 has also won 1st place at the International Children’s Festival “Tra La La”.
Earlier this year Ana took part in Junior Fest 2017, the competition which would select Albania’s next Junior Eurovision entry. A total of sixteen artists took part in the contest, which was held in the Palace of Congresses in Tirana. Judging on the night were a three-member jury made up of Fatma Methasani, Andi Bajgora, and Lum Veseli. Ana’s song “Mos ma prekni pemën” (Do Not Touch the Tree) was written by Kristi Popa and composed by Jorgo Papingji. Ana won the competition, meaning that she would be going to Tbilisi in November.

Albania first debuted in the Junior Eurovision Contest in 2012, and to date have had 3 entries. The country is still yet to win the contest, and their best result was in 2015, when Mishela Rapo performed her song “Dambaje”, which scored a total of 93 points and ended on 5th place. Albania’s worst result occurred in their debut in 2012, where Igzidora Gjeta and her song “Kam Një Këngë Vetëm Për Ju” placed 12th (last) with 35 points. Albania were absent from the contest in 2013 and 2014, before returning again in 2015.
