Muireann McDonnell has won the first semi-final of Junior Eurovision Éire 2017 with her song “Súile Glasa” and will compete in the final of the competition on November 19.
Muireann McDonnell and Judy Langan both advanced to the sing-off round, in which they performed their songs again. Muireann was then chosen by the panel to advance to the final. Tonight’s panel consisted of regalar judges Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Bláthnaid Tracey, along with guest judges and former Irish Eurovision entrants Brendan Murray (2017) and Dustin the Turkey (2008). Muireann received votes from Dustin, Fiachna and Bláthnaid with Brendan voting for Judy. Eoghan McDermot returned to host the show for the third year running.

- Kane Dunne – Ar Chuala Tú? (Did You Hear?)
- Eloise Judge – Domhan Foirfe (Perfect World)
- Amy Hehir – Feilecán i Mo Chroí (Butterfly in My Heart)
Muireann will now compete against the winners of the three remaining semi-finals and possibly up to two wildcards in the final on November 19. The winner will become Ireland’s third participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and will take part in this year’s contest in Tbilisi, the captial of Georgia.

Ireland debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest at the 2015 contest in Sofia, Bulgaria. The countries participation is organised by the Irish language broadcaster, TG4. At the 2015 contest in Bulgaria Ireland was represented by Aimee Banks with the song “Réalta na mara”, she finished 12th in the final. At the 2016 contest in Malta, Ireland was represented by Zena Donelly with the song “Bríce ar Bhríce”. She finished 10th in the final scoring a total of 122 points, including receiving the countries first 12 points in the contest.
