Tonight Portugal will select their singer for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017, next month in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The final of Juniores de Portugal takes place tonight, as five singers take to the stage all hoping to represent their country in Georgia. The five competing singers were internally selected by Portuguese broadcaster RTP, to take part in the contest. Last week all of the five singers were introduced to the public, with each of the singers performing on Á Praça.
The running order for the show is as follows:
- Filipa Ferreira
- Mariana Leite
- Margarida Lima
- Duarte Valença
- Mariana Venâncio
Televoting has been open since last week and will close after all of the performances tonight. Each of the singers will perform a cover of a well known song, as well as “YouTuber”, this years Portuguese entry for Junior Eurovision 2017. The song is about the singers aspiration to become a YouTuber. It is not known whether the song will be permitted to take part in Junior Eurovision, due to the use of a specific brand name. In 2012 San Marino was forced to change their Eurovision Song Contest entries name due to the use of Facebook in the title.
The winner tonight will be decided by 50% televoting and 50% jury voting, the jury is formed of three industry professionals. The final of Juniores de Portugal will be broadcast live from 17:00 local time (18:00 CET) on RTP 1 as well as RTP International, watch the final live here.

Portugal has participated twice in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in 2006 and 2007. On both occasions, Festival da Canção Júnior was used to select their entry. Both entries, “Deixa-me sentir” by Pedro Madeira and “Só quero é cantar” by Jorge Leiria, finished second last in their respective years. Portugal withdrew after the 2007 contest, despite high ratings on RTP. They will return, ten years later, for the 2017 contest.
