Serbia have become the latest country to confirm their participation in the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest, to take place in Lisbon, Portugal, next May.
According to ESCToday, Serbian broadcaster RTS have confirmed that they will compete in the 2018 contest. As of yet there has been no announcement from the broadcaster as to the selection behind next year’s entry. However, in recent years the country has favoured internal artist and song selections. Indeed their last entry to have been selected by the public was their 2015 entry, Bojana Stamenov’s “Beauty Never Lies”. In 2016 and 2017 the broadcaster has favoured internal selections.
Following a year’s hiatus in 2014, Serbia have qualified for the final on two of three attempts, with their only non-qualification coming tin 2017. Tijana Bogićević represented her country in Kyiv with the internally-selected “In Too Deep” and finished in 11th place in her semi-final, missing out on a place in the final to Denmark by just three points. It is probable that RTS will be aiming to return Serbia to the grand final when they arrive in Lisbon next May.
The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest will take place on the 8th, 10th and 12th of May in Lisbon’s MEO Arena, following Salvador Sobral’s victory in Kyiv. His song “Amar Pelos Dois” brought Portugal their first Eurovision victory in 49 attempts.

Serbia have competed as an independent nation in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2007, and have seen great success in the competition. Their first entry in 2007, Marija Šerifović’S “Molitva”, won the contest in Helsinki with 268 points, making Serbia’s debut one of the most successful in Eurovision history. From then up to their year’s break in 2014, Serbia finished in the top 10 a further two times, including a 3rd place finish in 2012 with Željko Joksimović’s “Nije ljubav stvar”. They have only failed to qualify for the final on three occasions, the most recent being in 2017 when Tijana Bogićević’s entry “In Too Deep” finished in 11th place in it’s semi-final in Kyiv.
