The Dniprovskiy District Court of Kyiv ruled yesterday that well-known Ukrainian prankster, Vitalii Sediuk will be fined 8,500 UAH (284 Euro) for showing his bare buttocks on stage during Jamala’s interval act performance at Eurovisio 2017. The judge added that Mr Sediuk had apologised to Jamala and the audience.
Mr Sediuk was arrested following the incident which occurred on May 13th and held in custody for a period of 72 hours. He was charged under Ukrainian law for aggravated hooliganism, a crime that could have seen him imprisoned for up to five years. At the time Jamala complained that security in the arena was too lax and that the incident should have never been able to have taken place.
The last time a person gained access to the stage at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2010 during the Spanish performance in the Grand Final. Jimmie Jump joined backing dancers on the stage before being chased off the stage by security guards in the venue.
