AVROTROS announced today the draw for the two semi-finals of Junior Songfestival 2017 through the official Junior Songfestival Youtube channel. The semi-finals will take place on September 2nd and 9th.
Also the two competing groups revealed their chosen names earlier this week. Social media users were asked to suggest names for the groups and each group chose their favourite. The girl band, which consists of Luana, Lois and Manou, is called Dreamz and the boy band, which consists of Niels, Max, Jannes and Ian, is called Fource.
The draw is as follows:
Semi-Final 1 (September 2nd)
Semi-Final 2 (September 9th)
- Wieke and Dylan
The final will take place on September 16th. All three shows will be broadcast on NPO 3. The winning act will be chosen solely by a jury. It has not been announced how many acts will be in the final nor if a wildcard selection as used in previous years will return in this year’s selection.
Last year, the group Kisses represented the Netherlands and came eighth with “Kisses and Dancin”. They received 12 points from the kids juries in Israel and Georgia. The members of the group were chosen via auditions and their song internally, marking the first time ever that the public had no say in either the song or the act chosen for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

The Netherlands debuted at the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. To date the country has only won the competition once. Their only victory came in 2009 when Ralf Mackenbach performed “Click Clack” scoring a total of 121 points, this was just 5 points more than runners-up Armenia and Russia. The Netherlands narrowly lost the contest in 2011 when Rachel performed “Teenager”, she lost by 5 points. The Netherlands worst result came in 2015 when Shalisa finished in 15th place out of 17 competing countries.
