The man who invaded the stage last night during Jamala’s performance has been identified as a Ukrainian prankster.
Vitalii Sediuk has been identified as the man who dressed as an Australian fan and streaked during Jamala’s interval act performance. Following his stage invasion, he was arrested by the security personnel as the venue and taken into police custody. Mr Sediuk is known for having performed stunts at events featuring Hollywood stars and other music stars.
Following the event last night the EBU released a statement reading:
A person took to the stage at the beginning of Jamala’s performance of I Believe in U at tonight’s Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv. He was quickly removed from the stage by security and out of the arena. He is currently being held and questioned by the police at the venue police office.
The last time a person gained access to the stage at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2010 during the Spanish performance in the Grand Final. Jimmie Jump joined backing dancers on the stage before being chased off the stage by security guards in the venue.
