Slovenia: “On My Way” Revamped By Budapest National Philharmonic Orchestra

The Slovenian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine has been revamped ahead of the song deadline on Monday.

RTVSLO the Slovenian national broadcaster has revealed that, “On My Way”, Omar Naber’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 has been revamped. The revamp of the song was proposed by Žiga Pirnat the composer of the song, and has been carried out by the Budapest National Philharmonic Orchestra in Hungary. This is not the first time that the Budapest National Philharmonic Orchestra has worked on a Eurovision song, having also worked on the 2014 winner “Rise Like a Phoenix”.

Earlier this week Omar also confirmed that he will perform alone on stage at the contest this May in Ukraine. The decision was taken as he felt that the song needed to be intimate due to its subject matter of loneliness. He feels that including backing vocals on stage would ruin the sense of intimacy.

This is not the first time that Omar Naber has competed at the Eurovision Song Contest. 12 years ago when the contest was last held in Kyiv, Ukraine, Omar represented Slovenia at the contest for the first time. At the contest in 2005 he performed the song “Stop” which was one of the fan favourites. However he failed to qualify from the semi final, finishing 12th in the semi final with a total of 69 points, 17 points away from qualification.
