Azerbaijan: Diana Hajiyeva’s Song For Eurovision To Be Revealed Tomorrow?

INFE Azerbaijan is reporting that the Azerbaijani entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 is set to be revealed tomorrow.

INFE Azerbaijan the largest Eurovision fan club in Azerbaijan has reported that the country’s entry for Kyiv, Ukraine is set to be revealed tomorrow. ITV the Azerbaijani national broadcaster has not commented publicly as to when the song will be revealed. understands that the song was selected at the end of last week following an extensive period of demo recordings of possible entries. Azerbaijan held a brief call for songs from January 31st to February 10, with Diana and the Azerbaijani delegation working to find the best song to meet the artists voice and style.

About Diana Hajiyeva:

Diana Hajiyeva was born in Baku in 1989. As a child she has taken music lessons, starting with the piano took from there she gained an interest in jazz music. She went on to study at the Baku Music Academy is included. “Choral Conducting” are to the profession. During her studies she went on to work with Elnur Huseynov who represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2008 and 2015. In 2011 she attempted to represent her country at Eurovision, but failed to qualify from her heat.

In December, Diana Hajiyeva gave her first thoughts on participating in this years Eurovision Song Contest. She claimed that she considers Eurovision as a “great experience”, also acknowledging that her music and performance style is different to those typically seen at Eurovision. However, Diana stressed that she is “open to new experiments”, and that she and the Azeri broadcaster will work together to find a compromised song, style and stage show. When asked if she would sacrifice her style for the contest, Diana replied that she “believe(s) that this will not happen”.

Azerbaijan debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, when they were represented by Elnur & Samir with the song “Day After Day” and finished 8th in the final. In 2011 Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Ell & Nikki and their song “Running Scared”. The song scored a total of 221 points, receiving only three sets of 12 points from Malta, Russia and Turkey. In the past three years Azerbaijan has failed to reach the top.10 in the final a position that Azerbaijan never placed lower than between 2008 and 2013.
