Tbilisi the Capital of Georgia has been confirmed as the host city for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in November.

GPB the Georgian national broadcaster has confirmed that Tbilisi will be the host city for the 15th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest later this year. The confirmation came as Jon Ola Sand the Executive Supervisor of the contest and Gert Kark the Project Manager for the event traveled to Georgia for the first time. At the meeting which was held at the end of this week discussions were held between the Junior Eurovision project manager, Media and Communication Director, Eurovision Producer as well as the Head of the Tourism Department.

Tbilisi is the Capital of Georgia and has been inhabited since 479 A.D. Around 1.5 million people call Tbilisi home, with the city set on the banks of the Kura River. Since the fall of the Soviet Union there has been significant investment in the cities infrastructure and amenities, with the city now home to a wide variety of word class facilities. The city is served by the Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, a total of 30 airlines serve the city with direct flights to Russia, Ukraine, UK, the Netherlands and Greece among a number of other countries.

Jon Ola Sand stated in an interview with GPB that:

After winning the competition three times, the time has come for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. I am in Georgia for the first time and will return and in the coming months, I will have to travel here often. We will do everything to arrange an unforgettable show. The Georgian side has discussed a lot of interesting details.

With Giorgi Chogovadze of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of the National Tourism Agency, adding:

Junior Eurovision is one of the biggest projects. We, of course, will use all means to show our country, Georgia to the rest of the world to introduce. The European Broadcasting Union and working group is already setup in Tbilisi. We are going through every detail to the highest level of conduct.

Details of the venue, hosts, branding and the dates of the contest will be discussed and revealed in the coming months.
