Australia has announced that they will be revealing both their singer and song in a live show on March 7 in Melbourne.
SBS the Australian broadcaster has announced that they will be revealing both the singer and their song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 on March 7. The reveal will take place at 17:30 local time in Melbourne, with the show being hosted by comedian and Eurovision commentator Julia Zemiro. The show which will be broadcast on Facebook Live will include the first live performance of the song for Kyiv .
To date two singers have represented Australia at the contest, Guy Sebastian in 2015 and Dami Im in 2016. Dami Im is the most successful singer at the contest so far finishing in 2nd place in Stockholm just 23 points behind the winner Jamala from Ukraine. Dami Im’s song “Sound of Silence” won the jury voting with 320 points, but finished 4th in the televote with 191 points.
Both Dami Im and Guy Sebastian rose to fame within Australia after winning a local reality TV show. This has led to speculation that the latest winner of the X Factor Australia, Isaiah Firebrace may be representing the country this May in Ukraine. Other names that have been put forward as potential participants are the Veronica’s as well as a long shot guess of Kylie Minogue.
The announcement today leaves just San Marino and Russia as the only countries not to have announced when they are revealing either their singer or song for Ukraine.

Australia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 as part of celebrations marking 60 years of the Eurovision Song Contest. Australia has broadcast the contest since 1983 making it the country which watched the contest for the longest period of time before taking part in the contest. In 2016 Australia was represented by Dami Im with the song “Sound of Silence”. She brought Australia 2nd place in the final scoring 511 points, she was just 23 points away from victory.
