Since 25-year old Lucie Jones was selected to represent the United Kingdom in Kyiv during last Friday’s selection show, her song “Never Give Up On You” has received both praise and criticism from fans on social media. Now it seems that the team behind the UK entry will be taking this feedback on board and making some small changes to the song.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast Lucie explained that whilst the public are generally “loving the song” and her vocals, she along with her record label and the BBC are “definitely listening to people when they’re saying they want slight changes”. She did not expand on what changes might be made, or when work will start on these changes.
During the interview, Lucie also expressed her eagerness to work with Eurovision 2013 winner Emmelie de Forest, who is one of the writers behind the song. She claimed that she was a fan of Emmelie’s, and that she hopes that she will have some valuable insight into being successful in the contest and making her song perfect for the Eurovision stage.
Lucie will be the 60th artist to represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision when she takes to the stage in Kyiv. As the UK are a member of the ‘Big 5’, she will progress straight to the final on Saturday 13th May.
