Artsvik (Artvsik Arutyunyan) has been selected to represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Artsvik has won Depi Evratesil and will now represent Armenia at the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine next May. 32-year-old Artsvik beat off competition from Marta in the final of the Armenian selection process tonight in Yerevan.
She was selected by a combination of jury voting and public vote. On the jury were professional musicians within the Armenian diaspora, who had a 50% say in the voting. The remainder of the vote was decided by the Armenian public via SMS voting.
The talented singer was selected by Essaï Altounian during the second stage of the selection to join his team. Essaï will be known to Eurovision fans for representing Armenia at the 2015 contest in Vienna, Austria as part of the group Genealogy.
During the first semi final Artsvik finished second, coming second overall of the public televote and third on the jury vote. In the second semi final she was the clear favourite of the international jury, while she finished second overall on the teleovte.
The song that Artvsik will be performing at the Eurovision Song Contest has not yet been decided. It is expected that the song will be internally selected and presented to the public in March. Previous Armenian entries to the contest have been revealed during the first or second week or March.

Armenia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and has participated every year since excluding 2012. The countries best results came in 2008 and 2014 when they finished 4th in the final. Armenia has only once not managed to qualify for the final, in 2011 Emmy finished 12th in her semi-final with the song “Boom Boom”, she was 1 point away from qualifying for the final. At the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Armenia was represented by Iveta Mukuchyan and the song “LoveWave” finishing 7th in the final.
