BTRC has announced today that Belarus will be selecting their entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 on January 20.
Today saw the running order draw for the final of Belarus’ selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. It was announced by BTRC today that the final will be taking place on January 20, with the winner being decided by 50% televote and 50% jury voting. A total of 13 artists will be taking part in next years selection.

It was also revealed that the filming of the postcards which will be shown before the participants perform will be filmed from December 13 onwards. The theme of the postcards is the symbolism of Belarusian ornaments.
Interest in this years selection in Belarus was down over 2016 when a total of 91 songs were submitted for the contest. Submissions were received from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Turkmenistan, United States as well as Nigerian national residing in Minsk. Belarus has yet to announce the date their final will be held on, however they have stated it will be held before January 25.

Belarus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and has made it to the final on four occasions. For the past two years Belarus has failed to make it through to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, this year IVAN finished 12th in the second semi final, 21 points away from qualification. Belarus’ best result in the contest came in 2007 when Dmitry Koldun finished 6th in the final with a total of 145 points.
