After giving Latvia two of it’s best positions in the last decade, singer songwriter Aminata Savadogo once again hopes to achieve similiar success, but this time with Baltic neighbour Lithuania.

Aminata has teamed up with Eurovizijos veteran Aiste Pilvelyte to produce an entry for the 2017 edition of Lithuania’s selection show for next year’s show in Kyiv.

Aiste has stated that while working on her new album, which Aminata has penned two songs on, the question of Eurovision arose. With Aminata suggesting that the song ‘I’m like a wolf’ being a perfect entrant for Eurovision. The song, and herself were then entered into this year’s edition of Eurovizijos.

Aiste has previously participated in Lithuania’s selection show 5 times; in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2016. And narrowly missed out on two occaisons, coming 2nd in 2008 and 2010 with the songs ‘Troy on fire’ and ‘Melancholia’ respectively. Her other attempts have always resulted in her reaching the final, coming 6th (2006), 3rd (2007), and 5th (2016) on those tries.

The Latvian music represented her country in 2015 in Vienna and came 6th giving the country its best result in a decade with the song ‘Love Injected’. This gave the country its highest ever score of 186 points. Then, in 2016, she teamed up with young musician Justs Sirmais to write the song ‘Heartbeat’ which placed 15th in the final with 131 points.

The final list of participants for the next edition of Lithuania’s marathon selection show has yet to be revealed. The contest is expected to finish in early March.
