Finland will be holding a one show national selection, with the final being held on 28 January in Espoo. 10 songs will be competing in the final of UMK 2017 to represent Finland at the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. UMK which was held for the first time in 2012 has traditionally consisted of three semi-finals and a final, however, for 2017 it has been decided to cut it down to a one show selection. This is not the first time that UMK has undergone changes to its format since it was first held. Previously introductory shows were held in December and January to reveal the participants in the selection process. While in 2015 it was announced that the panel of judges who previously had voiced their views on each of the performances were retired from the show.
