With the final just days away we caught up with this years Georgian entrant in Junior Eurovision 2016, the talented Mariam Mamadashvili.
Mariam Mamadashvili will be representing Georgia at this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Malta. She is the youngest singer in this years contest having celebrated her 10th birthday on Wednesday. In our interview with the talented singer we talk about her selection, what is means to represent Georgia and her message to her fans.
Thank you so much for talking to us Mariam. You must be very eager now to take to the stage in Malta?
Thank you for having me. Yes, I am very excited to perform in Malta. This is going to be my second visit to Malta. I was here (there) in 2014 for the JESC as a guest.
What does it feel like to be representing Georgia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and have such an exciting experience?
It feels great. I am very happy to be here but I am also nervous. I feel that it’s a big responsibility for me and I want to perform well and make my country proud. I am also looking forward to meeting the other contestants.
When you were told that you had been selected to represent Georgia, how did that feel?
Oh, I was so happy. I always wanted to participate in this competition. We sent the application and when I was called for the audition, I was so excited I could not sleep all night :).
Your song is all about the sun, what is it about the sun that you like the most?
This song was written by Giga Kukhianidze especially for JESC. The Sun is the beginning of life. It makes the world bright and warm. The song is about the colorful and bright days. It’s about future, happiness and love.
Now we’re asking all of the other participants this, what is one thing that you can do that we would not expect you to be able to do?
Nice question 🙂 Well, I can stand on my head. No I’m joking. I can’t stand on my head. I can not say I am able to do something that’s not expected from me, but my task is to sing my song perfectly, with all my hurt and to enjoy every moment of being in Malta
Finally, do you have a massage for the readers of Erovoix.com and all those who will be watching the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016?
First of all I want to say thank you for talking to me. I am very excited and happy to be a part of Junior Eurovision Song Contest. I guess my message would be to keep supporting the contestants, because these are very special moments in our lives. I think that the other contestants would agree with me when I say that the support we receive from people all over the word means a lot to us.
We wish Mariam Mamadashvili and the rest of the Georgian delegation the best of luck at this years contest in Malta. You can watch the official music video for her song below:
