AVROTROS has announced that O’G3NE will be representing the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
AVROTROS the Dutch national broadcaster has today announced that O’G3NE will be representing the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest. AVROTROS has once again opted to internally select their singer for the contest following the success of internal selections in recent years. The Netherlands is just the second country so far to reveal their participant.
O’G3NE is made up of Lisa, Amy and Shelley who represent the Netherlands at the 2007 Junior Eurovision Song Contest which was held in the Netherlands. Lisa, Amy and Shelley are sisters, Lisa being the oldest at 22 while Amy and Shelley are twins aged 21. The group are the first girl group to represent the country in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2006.
The group rose to fame in the Netherlands in 2014 when they won The Voice of Holland. The group had been heavily named as one of the potential entrants for next years Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine. To date they have released three albums, with their latest “We Got This” which was released at the end of September going to Number 1 in the Netherlands.
In 2016 Douwe Bob represented the Netherlands in Stockholm with the song “Slow Down”. The Netherlands finished 11th in the final scoring a total of 153 points, the song received 12 points from the jury in Iceland. Overall the song finished 11th with the jury vote and 17th with the public televote.
