An ongoing dispute between ZAMP and the Macedonian Government may silence the performances of Macedonia and Serbia at Junior Eurovision 2016.
MRT the Macedonian national broadcaster may be forced to silence the performances of both Macedonia and Serbia at this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest. ZAMP (Copyright Society of Macedonia) is currently protesting against the Macedonian Governments decision to allow SOKOM-MAP to collect artist fees from broadcasters. Currently the Copyright Society of Macedonia is banning any of its 6,000 members songs being broadcast on national television or radio.
To date the Macedonian broadcaster has been unable to show any promotional material for Macedonia in this years contest due to the ban. Serbia’s performance is unlikely to be heard on Macedonian television during the contest due to a decision by other regional bodies to support the ban in Macedonia. MRT has already had to speak to the European Broadcasting Union about the dispute and there inability to show the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in full.
Martija Stanojković is representing Macedonia this year in Malta with the song “Love Will Lead Our Way”. 12 year old Martija comes from the town of Kumanovo in northern Macedonia, she has been singing and performing since the age of five. At the age of seven she recorded her first song for commercial release. Last year Martija finished 2nd in the Balkan talent show “Pinkovi Star”.
