12-year-old Fiamma Boccia has been announced as the Italian participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

RAI has revealed that Fiamma Boccia will be representing Italy at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Malta. 12-year-old Fiamma was internally selected by RAI, having participated in the last season of Ti lascio una canzone. Fiamma will be performing “Cara Momma” (Dear Mum).

Italy debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2014, they went on to win the contest with Vincenzo Cantiello. Last year in Bulgaria, Italy finished 16th, they were represented by Chiara & Martina Scarpari with the song “Viva”.

A total of 17 countries will be competing in the 14th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Returning to the contest this year are Cyprus, Israel and Poland. However Montenegro, San Marino and Slovenia have withdrawn from this years contest in Malta.
