The final of the Irish Junior Eurovision Song Contest selection process Junior Eurovision Éire 2016 will take place on November 6.

Junior Eurovision Éire 2016 will make its way onto Irish TV screens on October 9, with four semi finals being held before the final on November 6. This years selection follows the same format as the 2015 selection process.

A total of 32 young singers from across Ireland have been selected to compete in the selection. The 32 singers are split into four semi finals of eight singers. From each semi final two singers will be selected by the judges to go through to the final duel, they will then select one singer to go through to the final. In the final the four winners of the final duel, plus two wildcards will then compete again. The judges will then select two singers to go into the final duel, where the judges will select the winner.

On the jury are:

  • Dustin The Turkey – Represented Ireland at Eurovision 2008
  • Jedward – The twins represented Ireland at the 2011 and 2012 Eurovision Song Contests
  • Linda Martin – Has represented Ireland twice at Eurovision, first in 1984 and then in 1992 where she won with “Why Me”
  • Niamh Kavanagh – Has represented Ireland twice at Eurovision, she won the 1993 contest in Millstreet with “In Your Eyes” and returned again in 2010 with “It’s For You”.
  • Sandie Jones – Represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1972, she is the only singer to have performed in Irish at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Ireland debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest last year in Sofia, Bulgaria with the singer Aimee Banks, she performed the Irish language song “Réalta na mara (Star of the sea)”, she finished 12th with a total of 36 points.
