Details about the music that will be played during the postcards shown before each performance at Junior Eurovision 2016 have been released.
Each postcard will be 45 seconds long and will feature a unique piece of music. The music for the postcards has been written by Gordon Bonello and Elton Zarb. Gordon Bonello is the Creative Director and Show Producer of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016, he also performed the same roles for the 2014 and 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contests. Elton Zarb is known for writing Malta’s winning Junior Eurovision entries in 2013 and 2015, as well as the countries Eurovision entry in 2015.
The use of a different piece of music for each postcard is a change from previous years where the same piece of music has been used for every postcard. The postcards are used to enable the viewer at home to meet the performers before they take to the stage as well as showcase Malta to the international audience.
To date a total of 14 countries have confirmed their participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016. This includes the return of both Cyprus and Poland to the contest. However Montenegro, San Marino and Slovenia have all withdrawn from this years contest.
