Belgium: Ketnet Will Not Return To Junior Eurovision

Ketnet
Ketnet will not return to JESC in 2016

VRT the Flemish broadcaster in Belgium has confirmed that they have no plans to return to Junior Eurovision in 2016.

Belgium is one of the five countries that contest supervisor Jon Ola Sand stated discussions were on going with regarding participation in this years contest. With VRT now stating that they are not returning to the contest this year, it appears that the EBU are only in discussions with RTBF the French language broadcaster. VRT was in charge of Belgian participation in Junior Eurovision in 2003 and from 2006 onwards. Belgium last participated in the contest in 2012 where Fabian finished 5th with 72 points.

To date 11 countries have confirmed their participation in Junior Eurovision 2016.

  1. If Ketnet says no, Belgium has no choice but to return with RTBF, thus bringing the French language back to Junior Eurovision. Restez à l’écoute! 😀

  2. Armenia, Serbia and Macedonia had confirmed participation. Now, I’m still waiting for the countries that are still waiting to confirm participation.

    Germany (debut)
    Finland (debut)
    United Kingdom
    France
    Spain

    1. I hope you are right. I think Germany will debut and France will return. United Kingdom will not return mabye if the contest was held in Ireland. Same with Belgium if The Netherlands would host they mabye return. I did not heared anything from Finland so lets hope so and Spain has been roumered for the last 4 years and they never paricitpated so it seems unlikely.

  3. I can imagine the following 18 countries in Valetta this November:

    – Albania
    – Armenia
    – Australia
    – Belarus
    – Bulgaria
    – France (return)
    – Georgia
    – Ireland
    – Italy
    – Malta
    – Macedonia
    – Montenegro
    – the Netherlands
    – Poland (return)
    – Russia
    – Serbia
    – Sweden (return)
    – the Ukraine

    1. change Sweden for Germany and i think you are right. Sweden will most likley not participate they said.

  4. My predicted 18 countries will be the following:

    Malta
    Macedonia
    Poland
    Serbia
    Spain
    Ukraine
    United Kingdom
