Kharkiv has become the fifth city to formally bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Ukraine.
Kharkiv joins Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa and Dnipro in all bidding to host next years Eurovision Song Contest. The news of the bid from Kharkiv means that all of the major cities expected to bid to host the contest have now submitted bids, a further four smaller cities had shown an interest in hosting the contest.
Kharkiv is located in Eastern Ukraine and is home to 1.5 million residents. The city has previous experience in hosting major events, having been one of the host cities for UEFA Euro 2012. No details have been released about the venues of their bid.
