Denmark has confirmed their participation in Eurovision 2017 with a call for songs for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2017.
Song submission for DMGP 2017 are open now until September 5. DR are taking a new approach to selecting their song for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017. The rules for DMGP 2017 allow both Danish and international song writers to submit songs for the contest. The Head of Entertainment at DR, Jan Lagermand Lundm stated that for 2017:
I’m looking for good songs with a strong chorus, which have the potential to be a hit – and that can get us in the final of Eurovision.
Denmark are hoping to make their way back into the final of the Eurovision Song Contest having missed out on the finals for the past two years. DR are hoping to change the music industries opinion of what a song for Eurovision is.
