ESC’17: Odessa Wants To Host The Contest

Odessa
Odessa has put itself forward to host

Odessa is the first city outside of Kyiv to put themselves forward as a host city for Eurovision 2017.

Hennadiy Trukhanov the Mayor of Odessa has said that he wants his city to host next years contest. Odessa is located in the south-west of Ukraine on the Black Sea, the city has hosted sporting events in the past including the FIBA EuroBasket 2015. The Mayor stated on his Facebook account that:

A platform worthy of such a prestigious competition, may well be our Odessa – cosmopolitan, beautiful, European city with a rich history and cultural traditions; I hope it will be so!

The city does however lack a suitable venue for the contest currently, the only venue capable of hosting the contest is the Chornomorets Stadium which would require a roof being built.

  1. Germany hosted the ESC in a stadium so it will not be problem! I do hope that ESC 2017 will be in Odessa, at least I could travel by sea 🙂
