ESC’16: Sami Flag No Longer Banned From Audience

Sami flag is no longer banned

NRK is reporting that the Sami flag is no longer banned from appearing in the audience of the Eurovision Song Contest.

NRK the Norwegian national broadcaster reports that the organisers of the contest have decided that the Sami flag can now be flown by members of the audience. The decision to ban the Sami flag had proved controversial with Agnete, Norway’s entrant being ethnic Sami. The list of banned flags still includes any regional flags or flags of countries not recognised by the United Nations.
