Private TV station PRO TV has approached the EBU to purchase the rights to broadcast the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden.
Romanian media reports that the station has approached the EBU to purchase the rights to broadcast all three shows of the 61st Eurovision Song Contest. Romanian media reports that the EBU denied the request on Tuesday but that a further meeting will be taking place today to discuss the matter further. PRO TV put out in a statement last night that the channel hopes that they will be able to take Ovidiu to Stockholm and for him to represent Romania on the Eurovision stage.
The CEO of PRO TV stated that:
Ovidiu Anton is ready to participate. And we intervene to say that if you can not give public television rights, why can not we as private television, to intervene and take over new rights? It is the best solution for everyone. We will discuss with EBU and we provide this solution.
