SVT have revealed details about the opening ceremony of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held on Sunday 8th May.
The ceremony will take place in the Blue Hall of Stockholm City Hall. However, the red carpet itself will run along the waterfront, alongside the location of the Euroclub. The carpet will be 94 metres long, and will be easily accessible for pedestrians. Måns Zelmerlöw, last year’s winner and one of the hosts of this year’s contest, will be the first to walk down the red carpet, along with his co-host Petra Mede. Jovan Radomir and Catarina Rolfsdotter-Jansson will provide commentary over the event.
Once arriving at the City Hall, the participants will be welcomed by Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the EBU, Martin Österdahl and Karin Wanngård (this year’s Executive Producer and Financial Commissioner). There will also be live performances on the night by currently undisclosed artists.
The event will be broadcast live through eurovision.tv, svt.se and SVT Play.
