TG4 has confirmed that Ireland will be participating in the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

TG4 replied to a tweet on their official Twitter account saying that “we will be back again next year with a representative”. Ireland debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest last year in Sofia, Bulgaria represented by Aimee Banks and the song “Réalta na Mara”.

No details have yet been announced about the Irish selection process. Last year TG4 staged a multiple show selection process “Junior Eurovision Éire” which saw 32 young singers competing to represent Ireland in Bulgaria.

To date four countries have confirmed their participation in the 2016 contest.

  1. It is concerning that we are in April, and have had no news about the date of the event or the host country. I am hoping that the event is still going ahead.
