EYM’16: 11 Countries To Participate In Eurovision Young Musicians 2016

Smallest contest since 1992
Smallest contest since 1992

11 countries are set to participate in the 18th edition of Eurovision Young Musicians this year in Cologne.

This years Eurovision Young Musicians is set to be the smallest contest since the 1992. Just 11 countries will be participating in the contest in Cologne, Germany, there have only ever been three other contests where a smaller number of countries have participated. The announcement of the list of participating countries means that the Netherlands, Portugal, Greece and Moldova have all withdrawn from the event.

Furthermore changes have been made to the event since the departure of Vladislav Yakovlev the former Executive Supervisor of the contest. The semi finals which had been planned to be held during the week before the contest have been removed and instead there will just be a 2 hour final on September 3. The final itself will be hosted by Daniel Hope.

The 11 countries that will participate in the event are:

  • Austria
  • Croatia
  • Czech Republic
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Malta
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • San Marino (Debut)
  • Slovenia
  • Sweden

  1. I wanted Eurovision Musicians which equivalent with Eurovision Song Contest for professional classical musicians aged at least 20 years old and compositions are new and composed by either themselves or others. Eurovision Musicians would be participated by more than 20 countries and more diverse than EYM.
