Latvia: Jānis Vaišļa Has Died Aged 46

Jānis (Middle) passed away aged 46

Jānis Vaišļa who was part of the group Pirates of the Sea that represented Latvia at Eurovision 2008 has died aged 46.

Jānis Vaišļa died in Berlin on Saturday in hospital having traveled to Germany for a life saving heart transplant. Mr Vaišļa had been part of the entertainment scence in Latvia since the 1990s and since 2011 had worked for with the youth association on the creation of a television station.

Pirates of the Sea finished 12th in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Wolves of the Sea”.
