Hunan Television has confirmed that it has purchased the broadcasting rights to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest in China until 2018.
Hunan Television which is the largest private broadcaster in China and the second most watched channel in the country broadcast the contest live in China for the first time this year. The channel has now confirmed that it will be broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest live in the country until 2018. Interest in the competition from within China has been growing in the past couple of years since the state broadcaster first showed the contest in 2013.
China is one of a number of non-participating countries to broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest annually including New Zealand and Canada.
