Iceland will select their participant for Eurovision 2016 on February 20.
Iceland are celebrating 30 years of participating in the Eurovision Song Contest next year and so looking for a good result in Stockholm. A total of 12 songs will be in the running to select Iceland in Stockholm, 3 will qualify from each of the two semi finals with a seventh song selected as a wildcard finalist. As was the case in 2015 the songs must be performed in Icelandic in the semi final, but in the final are performed in the language they would be performed in at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The dates for Söngvakeppnin 2016 have today been announced:
- Semi Final 1 – February 6
- Semi Final 2 – February 13
- Final – February 20
