The format for next years Eurovision Young Musicians has been confirmed by the EBU with a return to the “Elimination Semifinal”.
The EBU has confirmed that changes will be made to the format of Eurovision Young Musicians 2016. The competition which will culminate in a final on September 3 in Cologne will see the return of the “Elimination Semifinal”. The for 2014 contest the semi final stages saw all of the participants perform and make it to the final with their performance in the semi final added to their final score, next year only the best performers will make it to the final. The semifinal for 2016 will take place over two days, with each country sending a classical music expert to judge the performances and vote for the qualifiers.
It was also confirmed that prizes would be awarded to the top.3 as was introduced into the 2014 competition. Also a group performance will take place in the final including the young musicians who do not make it through to the final.
To date two countries have confirmed their participation in the event, a maximum of 15 countries can compete
