RTVS the Slovak national broadcaster is spending less than 5,000 Euros to participate in Eurovision Young Dancers 2015.
Slovakia are returning to Eurovision Young Dancers for the first time since 1997 when they failed to qualify for the final, it is also the first time they have participated in a Eurovision event since the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. The participation fee that RTVS has had to pay to the EBU is 5,000 Swiss Francs, which is far lower than that of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The decision for Slovakia to come back to the contest has been explained by the broadcaster as supporting domestic production and promoting national culture on a European level. It is hoped that interest in the contest which RTVS will broadcast live could bring Slovakia back to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016.
Slovakia are being represented at Young Dancers by Valéria Stašková with the routine “La Esmeralda”.
